India have remained winless against New Zealand in World Cup tournaments for the last 18 years.
India may have to catch an early flight back home after their agonising 8-wicket loss against New Zealand, their second straight defeat in ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Ground on Sunday.
On the contrary, India’s north-western neighbours Afghanistan are turning on the heat in the current edition of the World Cup with stellar performances galore. They overcame the relatively weaker but in-form side Namibia by 62 runs in the first game played on Sunday.

1 - Ish Sodhi has the highest number of wickets (19) in H2H clashes between India and New Zealand. Mitchell Santner (12), Tim Southee (11) and Jasprit Bumrah (10) follow Sodhi in the list.
3 - Ish Sodhi becomes the first bowler to dismiss Virat Kohli thrice in T20Is.
3 - New Zealand won a total of three games against India in the T20 World Cup tournaments. Before this only West Indies have defeated India thrice in T20 World Cup.
2 - India could accumulate only 110 runs in 20 overs against New Zealand, which is the second-lowest total scored by India in T20 World Cups. The lowest total made by India in T20 World Cup tournaments was 79 against the same opponent at Nagpur in 2016.
5 - This is also the fifth-lowest total of India in T20Is while batting first. The lowest total India made while batting first in T20Is is 74 against Australia at Melbourne in 2008.

9 - India have now lost nine games against New Zealand in T20Is. Only Australia and England have defeated India nine times each in T20I cricket.

1 - This the first time Rohit Sharma batted at one down in a T20 World Cup match. He has now batted at all the top 7 positions in T20 World Cup tournaments.
50 - Trent Boult completes 50 wickets in T20Is. He becomes fastest NZ bowler to take 50 wickets in T20Is from just 36 matches, bettering Mitchell Santner’s record in 40 outings.

2000 - Mohammad Shahzad completed 2000 runs in T20I cricket during his knock of 45 runs against Namibia.
1 - Mohammad Shahzad became the first Afghanistan player to score 2000 runs in T20I cricket.
2 - Namibia could score only 98 runs in 20 overs today against Afghanistan, which is their second-lowest total in T20 World Cup. They registered their lowest total (96) in T20 World Cup against Sri Lanka at Abu Dhabi earlier in the ongoing edition of the premier T20I event of the world.
