Axar Patel becomes first left-arm spinner to take five five-wicket hauls in a calendar year in Test cricket in India
First Test played between India and New Zealand at Kanpur ended in a draw as India failed to take the final wicket on Day 5.

428- Tom Latham faced the most number of balls (428) in a Test match in India for any New Zealand player. He surpassed former Kiwi player Mark Richardson who faced 410 balls at Mohali in 2003 against India.
58- Ravi Ashwin bagged the highest number of Test wickets (58) against New Zealand during his spell of 35/3 in the last innings. He surpassed Bishan Bedi who scalped 57 wickets against New Zealand.
1- Ravichandran Ashwin (419) went past Harbhajan Singh’s tally of 417 to become the most successful off-spinner of India.
3- Shreyas Iyer is the only third Indian batter who top-scored in both innings in Test debut after Lala Amarnath (Vs Eng in 1933) and Dilawar Hussain (Vs Eng in 1934).
3- Ravichandran Ashwin (419) went past Harbhajan Singh’s tally of 417 wickets to become India’s third most successful bowler, after Anil Kumble (619) and Kapil Dev (434).
1- Wriddhiman Saha became the oldest wicket-keeper batter to strike a half-century in Test cricket (37 Years 35 days). The previous record-holder was Farokh Engineer who hit half-century against West Indies at the age of 36 years 307 days at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in 1974.
3- Shreyas Iyer became only third Indian player with fifty-plus scores in both the innings of Test after Dilawar Hussain (vs Eng at Eden Gardens in 1934) and Sunil Gavaskar (vs WI at Queen’s Park Oval in 1971).
3- Shreyas Iyer scored the third-highest number of runs (170) in Test debut among Indian players. Only Shikhar Dhawan (187) and Rohit Sharma (177) amassed more runs than Iyer on Test debut among Indian players.
100- Ravichandran Ashwin completed 100 wickets while opening the bowling in Test cricket in India - the first spinner to achieve the milestone in a country while opening the bowling.
2- Tim Southee became the second Kiwi bowler with 50 wickets across formats in India after Daniel Vettori.
50- Kyle Jamieson reached 50 Test wickets during his spell of 40/3 in the third innings of this Test match.
1- Kyle Jamieson became the quickest Kiwi player to reach 50 Test wickets in just 9 Test matches. Shane Bond, the previous record-holder, took his first 50 Test wickets in 12 Tests.
1- Axar Patel becomes the first left-arm spinner to take five five-wicket hauls in a calendar year in Test cricket in India.
7- Axar Patel took only 7 innings to take five fifers in Test cricket. In the history of Test cricket, only one player took a lower number of innings than Patel to take 5 five fifers, Rodney Marsh in just 6 innings.
