1 - Shardul Thakur smashed the fastest ever Test fifty in England off just 31 balls. He broke the record of iconic English allrounder Ian Botham who clobbered a 32-ball fifty 35 years ago.

Also, Shardul broke the Indian record of scoring the fastest half-century against England earlier held by India’s legendary allrounder Kapil Dev who had scored a fifty off just 33 balls against them.


2 - Shardul Thakur also hit the second-fastest fifty by an Indian in the fourth Test against England at The Oval. Former Indian skipper, Kapil Dev is the record holder who had slammed half-century off just 30 balls against Pakistan in Karachi in 1982.

6 - Jasprit Bumrah became the sixth Indian player to register a diamond duck in Test cricket after he got run out for zero without facing a single ball.


166 - English pace spearhead James Anderson has played 166 Test matches and has now equalled the record of Proteas legend Jacques Kallis. Only Sachin Tendulkar (200), Ricky Ponting (168) and Steve Waugh (168) have played more Test matches than Anderson.


7 - Virat Kohli became only the 7th player in the world to pile up 23,000 runs in international cricket across formats.


490 - Virat Kohli took the fewest innings to amass 23,000 runs in international cricket when he reached the milestone in 490 innings. He broke the record of India’s yesteryear stalwart Sachin Tendulkar who recorded 23,000 runs in 522 international innings.


1 - India skipper Virat Kohli scored most fifty-plus scores (7) in England being Test captain. He outclassed MS Dhoni who smashed six fifty-plus scores in England in Test cricket as captain.


10 - Virat Kohli equalled the record of MS Dhoni to score 10 fifty-plus scores in England being captain in international cricket.


1 - Virat Kohli became the first-ever player to captain India in 10 or more Tests in England. MS Dhoni was the previous record holder who captained India in nine Test matches in England.



5 - This is the fifth time Virat Kohli scored 50 when the Indian team got all out under 200 in Test cricket. The previous record-holder was Sachin Tendulkar, who scored four fifties when the team was bundled out below 200 in Test cricket.


2 - Jasprit Bumrah is only the second visiting player to get out for a diamond duck in Tests at The Oval. The only other player to do so was Wazir Mohammad back in 1954.


9 - Virat Kohli has now scored 9 fifty-plus scores this year in international cricket across formats. Only Babar Azam (11) and Mohammad Rizwan (11) recorded more fifty-plus scores this year in international cricket.


From India, wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant recorded 7 fifty-plus scores this year.


1 - Cheteshwar Pujara became the most dismissed player by James Anderson in Test cricket, 11 times. Only Aussie tailender Peter Siddle has been dismissed 11 times by Anderson in Test cricket.


Pujara also recorded the most number of Test dismissals (8) against Anderson in England among Indian players. The previous record-holder was opener Murali Vijay who was scalped by Anderson five times in England in Test cricket.
