The young and uncapped Indian players from Rajasthan Royals gave quick blows to Delhi Capitals and put them on the backfoot. But the Delhi batters somehow were able to put up a respectable total of 154 runs with the loss of 6 wickets.
While chasing 155 runs, the RR batters failed to take advantage of the conditions in the second innings and the poor form continued for the Royals batters. It was an exceptional performance by DC bowlers which led them to a victory over Rajasthan by 33 runs
Shikhar Dhawan falls cheaply
After losing the toss, Delhi did not have one of the best starts in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) in powerplay as they lost both of their openers and were able to add only 18 runs for the opening wicket.
Kartik Tyagi dismissed Shikhar Dhawan and Chetan Sakariya dismissed Prithvi Shaw. This was the first time for Delhi that their openers got dismissed in the powerplay in this season.
After losing both of their openers, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant came on the crease and both of them built up a partnership of 63 runs. Iyer smashed 43 runs from 32 balls which included a four and two sixes. On the other hand, Pant scored 24 runs from 24 balls with two fours.
