IPL 2022, CSK vs RCB, Top Performances: Robin Uthappa's 88, Shivam Dube's 95*, and Maheesh Theekshana's 4-33 are the top three performances.
Brief Scores: CSK 216-4 (Dube 95*, Uthappa 88, Hasaranga 2-35) beat RCB 193-9 (Ahmed 41, Karthik 34, Theekshana 4-33, Jadeja 3-39) by 23 runs
Player of the match: Shivam Dube for 95 from just 46 balls
Match 22 of Tata IPL 2022 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, welcomed the four-times champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who have lost their starting four matches for the first time ever since the inception of IPL and were yet to put a “W” on the points table facing the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) who are on a winning trot bagging their last three matches.
The southern derby has always been in favour of the Super Kings who had won 19 out of the 29 matches played against the Royal Challengers before leading into this match, while RCB were experimental in winning just 9 and one match didn’t produce a result.
CSK trump RCB in a high-scoring affair
The former CSK veteran and now RCB captain, Faf de Plessis had no doubts electing to field first against his ex-team mates at the DY Patil Stadium which tends to favour the chasing teams with dew in the latter stages. Surprisingly, CSK went unchanged into this game having lost their previous match. While RCB went ahead with a forced change and one tactical swap, bringing in Suyash Prabhudessai for Harshal and Josh Hazlewood for David Willey. CSK got off to a very CSK-like start like earlier in this season with just 37 for the loss of two wickets on the board after 7 overs. Shivam Dube and Robin Uthappa steadied the ship for CSK with a fast-flowing partnership and posted a target of 217 for RCB.
It what one of the poorest starts for RCB in this season with them losing four wickets inside 7 overs. Dinesh Karthik continued the rich vein of form he was in but that wasn’t enough for the challengers from Bangalore to finish on the winning side as Mahesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja rattled the RCB batting unit.
Let’s scan the top three performances from the game between CSK vs RCB, IPL 2022:
Shivam “SIXER” Dube
Coming into bat in a crunch situation with CSK at 37-2 after 7 overs, where the team was struggling to score over 5 runs per over in a T20, Shivam Dube came like a man on a mission. Dube, with his sweat bat swing, entertained the DY Patil crowd with some huge sixes, where two of them went over 100 metres.
Dube took the RCB bowlers to the cleaners with clean and powerful hitting. He smacked 95* off just 46 balls with eight sixes and five boundaries, taking the CSK total to 216 runs, the highest score so far in Tata IPL 2022.
Shivam Dube, Robin Uthappa added 165 runs off 74 balls for the third wicket against RCB.

The Walking Assassin: Robbin Uthappa
We saw a typical Robin Uthappa innings on Tuesday against Royal Challengers Bangalore. As Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen went early, Uthappa had to anchor the innings. And boy! he did that in some fashion.
Uthappa took his time initially playing at a run a ball but switched to sports mode from economy mode as soon as he saw Maxwell roll his arm over, smacking three sixes off Glenn Maxwell. There was no stopping the walking assassin thereafter as he picked the bones of all the RCB bowlers smashing 88 off just 50 balls, hitting 9 sixes and 4 boundaries clocking at a strike rate of 176.

The Mysterious Maheesh Theekshana
Sri Lanka has been known for producing mystery bowlers and this lad from the emerald island is no different. Introduced into the attack inside the powerplay, Maheesh Theekshana dismissed RCB captain Faf du Plessis in his very first over. Theekshana then managed to trap the in form Anuj Rawat plumb in front of the stumps.
Theekshana, with his mystery variations, clean bowled the dangerous looking Prabhudessai and Shahbaz Ahmed with absolute snorters. Theekshana picked up four wickets while giving away just 33 runs in his quota of 4 overs in a match where 400+ runs were scored which helped CSK put the breaks on RCB whenever they looked to shift gears.
