Shubman Gill and Lockie Ferguson power Delhi to win

DC won the toss and put the opposition in to bat first. Gujarat had a rough start by losing a wicket in the first over of the game. Next batter Vijay Shankar struggled a lot, before getting bowled out by leggie Kuldeep Yadav on a personal score of 13. However, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya bailed out their team by adding 65 runs for the third wicket. Due to a phenomenal knock of 84 runs by Gill, the Titans put up a remarkable total of 171 runs on the scoreboard.

While chasing the target of 171 runs, Delhi lost three wickets early, skipper Pant and all-rounder Lalit Yadav rescued their team adding 61 runs for the fourth wicket. However, the sensational four-wicket haul of pacer Lockie Ferguson helped his side to defeat the Capitals by 14 runs.

Shubman Gill’s 84 boosts Titans to 171 in 20 overs

Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill carried his team’s innings singlehandedly in this game. He played his shots from the start of the innings only. He slogged sweep a gigantic six off spinner Axar Patel. He pummeled some boundaries off pacers and completed his 11th IPL fifty in just 32 deliveries. After completing the milestone, he launched an attack on opponent bowlers. He clobbered two back-to-back boundaries off pacer Khaleel Ahmed. He hammered spinner Yadav for one six and a boundary to collect 11 runs in his over and smashed two huge sixes off Patel in the next over.

Although he looked all set to complete his first IPL century, he lost his wicket off Ahmed as Patel took his catch at deep mid-wicket. Ahmed dismissed Gill only once before this face-off in IPL in three games. Gill’s phenomenal knock of 84 runs off 46 deliveries was studded with six fours and four monumental sixes.

Lockie Ferguson (4/28) halts Delhi Capitals' chase

Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson put Capitals in trouble in his first over only by sending two top-order batters to the pavilion. He dismissed explosive opener Prithvi Shaw and removed Mandeep Singh on 18 in the same over to get Capitals on the backfoot. Before this game, Shaw had a good record against Ferguson in IPL by making 36 runs off 20 deliveries with a strike rate of 171.4. Ferguson dismissed him only once before this game in three matches.

He returned for another spell in the 15th over and dismissed the premier batter of Capitals, Pant, on the first ball of the over. Pant was on 43 off 29 deliveries and could have taken the match away from Titans, though with his wicket Ferguson put his side in the match again. He cleaned up in-form batter Axar Patel in the same over to leave Capitals six down. Ferguson recorded sensational bowling figures of 28 for four which turned the match on its head.

Later, while defending a moderate total of 172 runs, Pandya bagged the important wicket of opener Tim Seifert in the second over of the innings to put the opponents in trouble at the start of the innings only. He bowled economically in his remaining overs to keep pressure on the opponent batters.
