Nitish Rana and Venkatesh Iyer somewhat stabilized the innings for KKR with a 48 runs stand. Chasing 150, KKR bowlers were hoping RR would board the tram to Kolkata, however, Jaiswal had already punched the ticket of a super-fast bullet train. He began the assault with 26 runs in the first over of Nitish Rana. A whirlwind and record breaking 13-ball fifty was set to flood the headlines as Yashasvi Jaiswal topped an elite list of players. Yuzvendra “Chatur Chalak” Chahal breaks KKR’s back with a four-fer
Unlike usual, Yuzvendra Chahal was introduced very late in the 11th over, and he responded rather quickly, dismissing Rana and breaking the 48 runs partnership. Then, Chahal made further inroads by picking up a double wicket over and giving just four runs away to stumble KKR into misery. Chahal was kept for the latter stages of the innings very smartly by Sanju, who even bowled the 19th over to send the dangerous Rinku Singh back to the pavilion. A spin bowling masterclass to deceive the batters played into Chahal’s strength as he picked up four wickets, giving just 25 runs in his four overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal storms into IPL record books with a 13 ball fifty
Rajasthan needed 150 runs to win and Jaiswal started the run chase with a bang, two consecutive sixes and a 26 runs first over to send back Nitish Rana out of the bowling attack. Yashasvi Jaiswal then dented Harshit Rana’s figure and the moment he was 37 off just 9 deliveries, everyone crossed their fingers as the youngster was about to cross something really special. The fastest fifty in IPL’s 16-year history and a 21-year-old smashes a 13 ball fifty, a once in a lifetime achievement for the left hander beating KL Rahul’s 14 ball fifty.
Jaiswal didn’t stop and continued on this red-hot run of form and played all the shots in the book, Sixes down the ground, inside out over covers, sweep, pull and what not! Jaiswal’s innings was like the bullet train of Japan as he reached 98 runs off just 47 deliveries helping RR chase down 150 with 41 deliveries to spare.
