LSG won the toss and opted to bat first. Ayush Badoni started with a feisty half century as he, with the help of Nicholas Pooran, guided LSG to 165/4 against SRH. Pooran and Badoni added 99 runs for the fifth wicket. Bhuvneshwar Kumar rattled the Super Giants early when he sent back both Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis cheaply. Skipper KL Rahul followed with 29 but was snapped up by Pat Cummins. The Australian struck again soon when he ran out a well-set Krunal Pandya. For SRH, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the most successful bowler (2/12). 

In the second innings, making a mockery of the LSG bowlers in the powerplay, openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma smashed 107 runs. Head scored the joint-fastest half-century off 16 balls to put SRH in the driving seat. Head (89*) and Abhishek (75*) chased down 166 inside 9.4 overs to brush aside the Lucknow Super Giants by 10 wickets and give themselves a massive net run rate boost. Meanwhile, LSG losing the plot in between has put their qualification in danger.
