The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is just around the corner and all hell is expected to break loose on November 24 and 25 as franchises brace themselves to engage in a heated bidding battle. While most of the focus is drawn towards big players, the youth are also expected to make heads turn and hog the limelight in this upcoming auction.

From Nehal Wadhera to Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the 2025 IPL auction is bound to showcase a substantial chunk of rich uncapped talent from India’s domestic arena who can very well be on their way to becoming the next big names in world cricket.

In this article, we will focus on five uncapped youngsters from India’s domestic setup and delve deeper into their past records in IPL to better understand how they can become a major asset to any team ahead of the mega auction.

1. Nehal Wadhera

The Ludhiana-born Nehal Wadhera has been a handy commodity for Mumbai Indians (MI) and has served them for a year. Wadhera averages nearly 24 in the IPL and has two fifty-plus scores to his name. Moreover, he strikes the ball quite well and maintains a commendable strike rate in excess of 140 both in the IPL as well as domestic T20.

The 24-year-old has played some impactful cameos for MI, especially during the middle phases of the game. He is someone who bats well in the middle order and offers a swift acceleration through the middle overs.

Although he looked off-colour last season averaging below 20, Wadhera has demonstrated his appetite to churn runs in crunch situations for his side. In addition, he has a few overs under his belt in T20 cricket and can also be utilised as a part-time spin-bowling option.

2. Anshul Kamboj

This 23-year-old is having an unbelievable run in domestic cricket. Very recently, Anshul Kamboj made headlines by becoming the third bowler to pick up all 10 wickets in an innings. This ground-breaking feat was achieved in a Ranji match against Kerala. He scripted his best FC figures of 10-49.

Outside of the longest format, Kamboj is a skillful operator in T20 cricket. As far as his domestic record suggests, the 23-year-old averages nearly 21 and has a killer strike rate of almost 15 with the ball.

Making his debut with MI last season, it is still early days for Kamboj in franchise cricket. But on the back of some impressive outings in domestic cricket, those days are not far away when we might see him unleash his fury on the batters.

3. Ashutosh Sharma

This 26-year-old batter hailing from Madhya Pradesh has been a consistent performer for Punjab Kings (PBKS) ever since making his debut for them this year. In his promising short-lived IPL career so far, Ashutosh Sharma has demonstrated his worth with the bat on numerous instances last season.

In his debut game against Gujarat Titans (GT) earlier this year, Ashotosh came in as an impact player and played a crucial knock of 31 runs off 17 balls to help PBKS successfully chase down 200. In 9 IPL innings, Ashotosh has amassed 189 runs at a formidable average of 27 which also includes his best score of a 28-ball 61 against MI.

What really stands out is his massive 160+ strike rate. Ashutosh is undoubtedly a six-hitting machine and he could be someone who can play the role of an aggressor and bail his side out of trouble in crisis situations.

4. Vaibhav Arora

The Himachal-born Vaibhav Arora is a skillful fast bowler who has represented two franchises after making his IPL debut in 2022. Vaibhav was a part of PBKS in his debut season but was subsequently picked by Kolkata Knight Riders (KRR) the following season. Whilst representing KKR in the 2023 and 2024 IPL editions, Vaibhav claimed 16 wickets at a stunning average of around 27.

His first stint with KKR was very modest as he ended up with only 5 wickets. But the youngster brought out his best and scripted some unbelievable performances to drive KKR to their third title win in the 2024 season. The 27-year-old played a pivotal role for his side last season finishing with 11 wickets at a remarkable average of 25.09 which included his best figures of 3-27.

Vaibhav has a wealth of experience in the shortest format in domestic cricket as well. He could be someone who can enhance further as a player with each passing season.

5. Angkrish Raghuvanshi

The 20-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi has a bright future ahead of him. The youngster is in his formative years and has already had a lasting impact in the IPL 2024 season. He made his debut for KKR last season and made 10 appearances for them with the bat where he amassed 163 runs at an average of 23.28. He straightaway established himself as a force to reckon with in his maiden IPL game last season where he hammered 54 runs at an enormous strike rate of 200 against Delhi Capitals.

Raghuvanshi was India's highest run-getter at the 2022 Under-19 World Cup in the Caribbean, which India won. He finished fourth on the overall scorers' list with 278 runs from six innings. The Mumbai-based batter is tall and a naturally gifted player with enormous untapped potential. His franchise will have high expectations from him ahead of the upcoming IPL season and would hope to see him deliver consistently in crunch situations.

The mega auction is scheduled to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from November 24 to 25. This is the second time an IPL auction is being held outside the country after last year's event in Dubai. As many as 574 players featuring 366 Indian players and 208 international players will go under the hammer and we can expect many records to be broken in this year’s IPL auction.
