SA vs Ind, ODI Series 2021-22 Records: Rahul 1st India captain to lose first three ODIs as skipper

Quinton de Kock equalises world record of scoring most number of ODI centuries (6) for a wicketkeeper batter against a particular opposition in ODIs.

In the recently concluded ODI series between South Africa and India, the former steamrolled the latter by a margin of 3-0. Cricketers from both teams set some records in the three-match ODI series. Let's have a look at them after the completion of the series.


1 - South Africa whitewashed India for the first time in an ODI series.


1 - KL Rahul became the first India captain to lose his first three ODI matches as skipper.


5 - India are yet to win a cricket match in 2022 across formats as India lost five straight international matches they have played till now in this calendar year.


1 - Yuzvendra Chahal became the highest wicket-taker (18) among India’s bowlers against South Africa in the latter’s home territory by surpassing Kuldeep Yadav (17).

5 - Quinton de Kock became the fifth South African Player to complete 1,000 ODI runs against India.


6 - Quinton de Kock notched up his sixth ODI century against India. Among South African players, he equalled the record of AB de Villiers who has also smashed six ODI centuries against the Indian attack.


6 - Quinton de Kock took 127 ODI innings to register 17 ODI tons, the sixth-lowest for any player in the world. His countryman Hashim Amala took the lowest innings (98) to smash 17 ODI centuries.



3 - Quinton de Kock has now scored six ODI centuries against India as a wicketkeeper batter. In the process, he equalised the world record of scoring the most number of ODI centuries (6) for a wicketkeeper batter against a particular opposition in ODIs. Adam Gilchrist scored the same number of ODI centuries against Sri Lanka and Kumar Sangakkara scored six ODI centuries against India. Across the globe, only Sanath Jayasuriya has scored more ODI centuries (7) against India than de Kock.

1 – India’s wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant registered his highest ODI score (85) in the second ODI match against Proteas by surpassing his previous highest which was 78 against England in Pune in 2021.


1 - Rishabh Pant put up the highest ODI score (85) for an India wicketkeeper batter on South African soil by surpassing Rahul Dravid’s 77 against South Africa in Durban in 2001.


3 - Rishabh Pant was dismissed on duck in the third ODI match against Proteas which is his third duck in ODI cricket.


14 - Former India captain Virat Kohli registered his 14th duck in ODI cricket in the second ODI match against Proteas. Indian stalwart Sachin Tendulkar recorded the highest number of ducks (20) in his long ODI career.


8 - Shardul Thakur became only the eighth Indian player to score an ODI half-century while playing from numbers 8-11 in the batting line-up in the first ODI at Boland Park in Paarl. Kapil Dev was the first Indian player to do so against England at Headingley, Leeds in 1982 when he scored 60 runs off 37 deliveries.


5 - South Africa won their fifth ODI series against India in their den.


2 - South Africa captain Temba Bavuma notched up his second ODI century in the first ODI of the recently concluded series against India.

35 - India opener Shikhar Dhawan scored his 35th half-century in the third ODI match against South Africa.
