In ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the qualification for the semi-final berth in Group 1 was still at stake as Australia, South Africa and West Indies were fighting for the 2nd spot as England already qualified. On Thursday, Australia defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets and moved to the second spot, while in the other game, Sri Lanka beat West Indies by 20 runs and knocked West Indies out of the tournament. With that, now battle remains between Australia and South Africa for the second spot.


Here is a look at the major records set/broken on the last two matches of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021:


1-Nicholas Pooran scored 46 runs today against Sri Lanka which is the highest score for any West Indies wicket-keeper batter in T20 World Cup tournaments. The previous record was 40 runs, which was registered by Pooran himslef in the previous game against Bangladesh.


6-Sri Lanka won their sixth match today against West Indies in T20 World Cup tournaments, which is the highest for a team against a particular team.


16- Wanindu Hasaranga bagged 16 wickets in T20 World Cup 2021 which is the highest for any player in any T20 World Cup tournament. The previous highest was 15 wickets by Ajantha Mendis in the 2012 T20 World Cup tournament.

1-At the age of 23 years 170 days, Pathum Nissanka became the first opener to smash three or more fifty-plus scores in the T20 World Cup before turning 25.


2-Charith Asalanka (231) and Pathum Nissanka (221) are the top two run-scorers in this edition of the T20 World Cup.



1-Adam Zampa became the first leggie to take a fifer in T20 World Cup. He took five wickets for 19 runs against Bangladesh.


2-Adam Zampa became the only second Australian to take a five-for in T20 World Cup after James Faulkner against Pakistan at Mohali in 2016.


1-Adam Zampa became the first-ever spinner to take a T20I five-wicket haul against Bangladesh. The previous best figure in men's T20Is against Bangladesh was Rashid Khan’s 4/12 at Dehradun in 2018.


3-Adam Zampa became the only third Australian to take a five-wicket haul in T20Is after James Faulkner (against Pakistan at Mohali in 2016) and Ashton Agar (against South Africa at Johannesburg in 2020).


1-Australia won the match with 82 balls remaining, which is their largest victory ever in T20Is by the margin of balls left. The previous record was 58 balls remaining against Sri Lanka in 2007 by Australia.


2-Australia won today against Bangladesh by a margin of 82 balls which is the second-highest margin by balls left in T20 World Cup tournaments, after Sri Lanka's win by a margin of 90 balls left against the Netherlands in 2014.


1-Bangladesh got bundled out on 73 today against Australia which is their second-lowest total in T20I cricket. The lowest is 70 against New Zealand in 2016.
