In ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the qualification for the semi-final berth in Group 2 is still at stake as India, Afghanistan and New Zealand are fighting for the 2nd spot after Pakistan already qualified beating Namibia by 45 runs on Tuesday. On Wednesday, New Zealand defeated Scotland by 16 runs and moved to the third spot, while in the other game, India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs and moved to the fourth position in the points table.


Here is a look at the major records set/broken on the last two matches of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021:


1- Indian team posted a total of 210 in 20 overs against Afghanistan today, which is the highest score registered by any team in this edition of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. They broke the previous record made by Afghanistan, which posted 190 runs against Scotland at Sharjah.

6- This is the sixth consecutive toss Virat Kohli has lost in T20Is.


2-Rohit Sharma scored 74 runs off 47 balls against Afghanistan today. It is the second-highest score by any Indian opener in T20 World Cup tournaments. The highest score for any Indian opener in T20 World Cup tournaments is 75, which is scored by Gautam Gambhir against Pakistan in the 2007 T20 World Cup Final.


3-KL Rahul scored 69 runs off 48 balls against Afghanistan today, which is the third-highest score by any Indian opener in T20 World Cup tournaments, after Gautam Gambhir (75) and Rohit Sharma (74).


1-This partnership of 140 runs between Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul is the highest partnership for India in T20 World Cup tournaments. They surpassed the previous record partnership of 136 runs made by Gautam Gambhir and Virendra Sehwag at Durban in 2007.

4-Rohit Sharma smashed his fourth fifty in T20 World Cup tournaments as an opener. He is the only second Indian opener to score four fifties in T20 World Cup after Gautam Gambhir.


2-Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul scored 74 and 69 today against Afghanistan respectively. This is the only second instance of both Indian openers scoring more than fifty runs in a T20 World Cup match after Gautam Gambhir and Virendra Sehwag scored 58 and 68 against England in 2007 respectively.


4-KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma made their fourth-century partnership in T20Is today. Only one pair have stitched more century partnerships in T20Is than Rohit/Rahul is Babar Azam/Mohammad Rizwan, who made five such partnerships.

150-Martin Guptill became the first player to reach 150 T20I sixes during his phenomenal knock of 93 runs off 56 balls against Scotland today.

7-Martin Guptill whacked seven sixes in his knock of 93 runs against Scotland, which is the most for any player in any innings in this edition of Men’s T20 World Cup. He surpassed the previous record made by Jos Butler, who smashed six sixes in his unbeaten knock of 101 runs against Sri Lanka a few days ago.


2- Martin Guptill smashed a phenomenal knock of 93 runs off 56 balls against Scotland today, which is the second-highest individual score for New Zealand in T20 Word Cup, after 123 scored by Brendon McCullum against Bangladesh in 2012. This is also the second-highest individual score in this edition of the T20 World Cup after 101* made by Jos Butler against Sri Lanka a few days ago.
